Stimulated rounds up a number of rap artists from the Loud label’s roster of talent for this impressive compilation. There aren’t too many big names here. For the most part, these rappers are relatively little-known to the general public – De La Soul, Xzibit, Everlast, Dilated Peoples, Camp Lo, Prodigy, and Rah Digga being the best-known. Moreover, in general, the featured tracks are exclusive to this compilation. If you have a taste for alt-rap with an emphasis on the hip-hop ideology and sound, this should appeal to you. Even if these artists are fairly unknown to the general public, they’re all talented and well respected in the underground. You do get the feeling, however, that the songs here are outtakes or some other form of throwaway – none are particularly impressive.
